“Arbitration monopolization” — Tatiana Tereshchenko’s comment for Legal Information Agency

There are only four permanent arbitration courts (commercial arbitrations) in Russia. The modernization aimed at improving the quality of non-state justice but in practice it led to monopolization of the market and to increase of tariffs.  

Tatiana Tereshchenko, head of the Prime Advice analytical department comments:  

"The reform was designed to encourage the return of the capital to Russia improving the interest and confidence of the business in arbitration as well as to exclude specific abuses (the so-called "pocket courts"). In spite of a new administrative element (the requirement to obtain a special permit) the new law generally corresponds to the modern international trends."
